Conceptual model
- Identify the problem - Clear and concise.
- Generate Ideas - No idea is too small to include. Be sure to include your basic sketches of ideas.
- Constraints - How is the problem limited for you? Tools? Materials? Ability level? Time? Etc.
- Criteria - What factors are you using to determine the best Truss Tower
- Research - Theoretical Research - What have you looked up? Include search terms and summaries. Empirical Research - What have you discovered through trial and error?
- Possible Solutions - Each group member has developed a possible solution to the problem. Be sure to explain how each possible solution should work.
- Idea Matrix - Include an image of your matrix. The matrix should compare the possible solutions based on the criteria. They must match.
- Summary - Conclude your planning stage with a summary that explains what solution your group has chosen and why.
Graphical Model
SketchUP
- Clarity - Viewers can easily visualize the design based on the supplied screenshot(s) and descriptive notes.
- Dimensions - The supplied screenshot(s) show all dimensions needed to reproduce the design accurately.
- Neatness - Stray lines have been removed. All faces are in tact. Design is "water tight."
- Detail - Textures have been used and all components of the design have been included.
Technical Sketch - Best option for truss towers
- Clarity - All views work together to allow the viewer to easily visualize the design.
- Dimensions - Dimension lines are used to show all dimensions needed to reproduce the design accurately.
- Neatness - Sketch is free of stray lines and erasure marks.
- Detail - Accurate line weights are used to help show even the smallest detail related to the design.
Mathematical Model
- Contribute - Fill out the Google Form for all major changes in your design.
- Analyze - Compare the data provided on the Google Form. Clean up the data (it really needs it!) explain how the data was cleaned up. ie. "Towers that did not have readings were removed from the data set."
- Adjust - How would the data impact a re-design of your Truss Tower? The graphs made should support your re-design.
Working Model
- Progress - Document your progress on a regular basis. This assignment is full of great points and not so great points. Be sure to include a detailed account of these points as you go.
- Pictures - Include pictures of your design. If you have them, include building and finished products. Pictures with faces of classmates will count against your grade. If you need assistance acquiring pictures, Just ask. I'll gladly help out with that.
ReDesign
Based on your mathematical model, what changes would be made if you were to create another tower.
